Commuting from here to Ol Kalou costs us KES 600, totaling KES 1,200 for a round trip. Transport is so expensive that women in the area are afraid of becoming pregnant.

I am a small-scale farmer, and I have some cows. However, my income from carrots and milk is not enough to make farming economically viable. Due to the poor road conditions, brokers are taking advantage of us. My children have left for Nairobi and other towns because life here is difficult. If the government built the Kariamu road, our livelihoods would be more sustainable.

The road from Kariamu to Shamata has been dilapidated since independence. Because the area borders three constituencies—Kipipiri, Ol Kalou, and Ndaragwa—all development focuses on these constituencies, leaving us abandoned. The proposed road is very far with very few inhabitants. If the government upgraded this road instead, we would benefit more.

I buy vegetables from Kirima. We are facing challenges because our motorcycles are deteriorating quickly, leading to high maintenance costs. We urge the government to intervene and upgrade the Ndaragwa - Kariamu road.

I'm a small-scale dairy farmer. Due to the poor state of Kariamu road, we are forced to use donkey carts. From the main road, matatus overcharge transport costs, and brokers take advantage of us.
